Here’s our Fort Myers fishing report, despite the high winds and slightly cooler temperatures that occurred the last few days, the fishing continues to be good. Even though we lost a few degrees in water temperature due to the wind cooling the water the fishing overall was very good yesterday. Our local Tarpon often react negatively to high winds and they can put them down for several days, fortunately that wasn’t the case with this last cold front. The fishing was very good and my Fort Myers light tackle fishing charter clients from Germany had some fantastic of Tarpon action with over a dozen fish hooked and thankfully one made it to the boat where it was gently released. It’s amazing how Tarpon have that uncanny knack to just keep jumping until they come unbuttoned. That’s part of the thrill of Tarpon fishing, the great fight they give us, and they never stop jumping!
In addition to the Tarpon we kept running into busting schools of jacks consistently throughout the morning and they sure provide some fast action. I think everyone enjoys catching them because they fight so hard. The fishing this weekend should be outstanding for just about anything you want to catch. There are lots of Spanish mackerel about a half a mile to a mile off the beaches, and it seems like every pass from big Carlos South to Gordon’s is loaded with Pompano.
Have a good day on the water!
